Over the weekend we had a great family movie night out. We decided to see the new Dr. Seuss movie the Lorax. I was unfamiliar to this classic Dr. Seuss book before seeing the movie; the “green” message really took me by surprise. I thought the movie was put together well and left us all feeling good as it inspired me to mention it on our blog.
For the readers of this blog also unfamiliar with this classic, the book is commonly recognized as a fable concerning industrialized society and the danger it poses to nature. It chronicles the plight of the environment and the Lorax, who speaks for the trees against the greedy Once-ler.
Recycle Your Media has a worldwide reach currently conducting business in over 40 countries to date, 99.9% of all tape that we recycle is re-used; the .1% that isn’t reused is incinerated into green energy. We currently work with over 1,236 clients in the USA, and about 300 clients around the world. On record 566 re-sellers regularly purchase our recycled tape and distribute to thousands of users around the world.
From 2005 to 2011 Recycle Your Media recycled:
Total tapes: + 2,202,597
Pounds: + 1,539,817.9
Tons: + 769.90
Like in the movie, I’d hope if the Lorax beamed himself down to greet our team just like he did the Once-ler, he would also give us a pat on the back and let us know “we’ve done good.”
The movie ends with this motivating quote: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” Dr. Seuss
I know this post may come off as a bit hippie-ish, but trust me; I’m no hippie. I’m just someone who happens to care a whole awful lot.
